Since its inception in the Western Cape in 2002, more than 55 000 learners at 166 schools have participated in the programme which was funded by the Western Cape Government’s Department of Social Development. During the last financial year the tally was 16 402 learners at 26 schools.

- AllPay – Since 2004, in collaboration with the SA Social Security Agency (SASSA) and AllPay, the service provider responsible for payouts at more than 300 paypoints in the Western Cape, the NRGP has sent a team of trained facilitators to visit 857 paypoints in 30 districts. Facilitators hand out leaflets to beneficiaries, and interact with a vulnerable indigent sector of the community.
- during 2004 a team of up to 13 facilitators handed out leaflets to pensioners at 190 AllPay stations
- during 2005 this was extended to include other social grant recipients at 276 metropolitan paypoints
- during 2006 another 231 rural paypoints were included
- during 2007-8 a core team of four facilitators reached an estimated 36 000 recipients of social grants and/or old age pensions at 148 paystations
- Show business – From 23 to 31 May 2008 the NRGP displayed FAQ leaflets in the foyer of the Milnerton Playhouse during the run of an American play by Linda Eisenstein called ‘Three the Hard Way’, that deals with gambling as a social problem, and the NRGP also participated in the Khayelitsha Festival which was held at the OR Tambo Community Hall in Khayelitsha in October 2008.
- Public speaking engagements – from 2002 to 2005 more than 6 700 senior citizens and adults were treated to talks and presentations at 107 venues such as old age homes, retirement village complexes, service centres or community and church clubs.
